Call for reviewers
Applications are open for people interested in being part of the reviewers/evaluators team of the Journal of Sustainable Urban Mobility - Josum. The Journal, published by the Instituto de Pesquisa Multiplicidade Mobilidade Urbana - IPMMU, is the only Brazilian scientific Journal focused exclusively on the topic of urban mobility. "This is an old dream that is increasingly taking shape. We have created our Editorial Board composed of incredible people. We take another step with this call for reviewers," said Glaucia Pereira, editor-in-chief of the Journal, researcher, and founder of IPMMU.
The application period for interested people goes until 12/31/2022 and is available on the internet. To apply, people need to be aware of the public notice available at this link. "Among the various aspects detailed in the announcement, one of the most important is that the person must have availability and interest. The person must complete at least a Master's degree," explains Marcelo de Trói, IPMMU's editorial production manager responsible for managing JOSUM.
"Another point to be considered by interested people is that we pay per text evaluated, which is not common in evaluation systems. We agree that this is important at the Institute since the person is dedicated to an evaluated task. Besides, we believe that this speeds up the submission process", says the manager. We think that voluntary evaluations contribute to scientific journals taking so long to return the opinions. "We want to change and speed up the deadlines. Our goal is to publish a text in up to 70 days. With the value received for the evaluation, the person can accumulate the value to pay for submission in the continuous flow of the Journal itself or receive it through a bank deposit at the end of the evaluation", he adds.
As a channel for scientific dissemination linked to Multiplicidade Mobilidade, JOSUM has an innovative character in presenting texts in the formats of scientific articles, data articles, essays, or interviews. The people selected to compose the team of referees will evaluate texts from both the continuous flow and the thematic dossiers. The procedures and communications occur in the OJS - Open Journal Systems system, in which the Journal is published and managed. "As soon as the applications from interested people arrive, we will analyze and inform them whether or not they fit the profile we are looking for. Our concern is that those selected represent the diversity of gender, race, and regional diversity in Brazil's context. Furthermore, of course, they have skills in urban mobility that qualify them to be part of our team of reviewers," explains Tró.
Josum
The Journal of Sustainable Urban Mobility - Josum is a publication of the Instituto de Pesquisa Multiplicidade Mobilidade Urbana - IPMMU. It works towards open science in which people can read and disseminate its contents. The Journal accepts publications in Portuguese, English, and Spanish. The Journal's main objective is to publish scientific articles that focus on sustainable urban mobility and have a social, environmental, economic, or governance impact. With simple submission formats, the Journal aims at the scientific dissemination of results that need and deserve to be shared. Josum will work with a charge per article approved for publication in the continuous flow for promoting, producing, and maintaining the Journal. This procedure is known as Article Processing Charges (APC) in Open Science. In the so-called thematic dossiers, the submission will be without a maintenance fee due to financial difficulties that have affected many academic students and researchers. With this action, JOSUM intends to disseminate the research underway within universities that, many times, is carried out with economic difficulties by graduate students.
