Journal of Sustainable Urban Mobility publishes volume 2
Talking about active urban mobility in the school environment is extremely important, given that children and adolescents going to school, especially in the middle class, is one of the factors that cause congestion on the roads. In addition, in the case of public schools, many children walk to them. Volume 2 of the Journal of Sustainable Urban Mobility, Josum, today publishes an essential article on the topic.
Entitled “Sustainable urban mobility with an emphasis on active mobility in the school environment”, the article is signed by Ludmilla Francisca Duarte, Caio Fernandes Matsuoka, Paulo Roberto de Assis Franco, Silvia Stuchi Cruz, and Sonia Regina Paulino, people linked to the University of São Paulo, the USP. The text is the third article published by Josum, was peer-reviewed in a double-blind manner, and approved for publication at the end of June. The objective of the work was to discuss sustainable urban mobility, emphasizing active mobility in the surroundings of a public school located in Vila Cisper, a neighborhood in the East Zone of São Paulo (SP). The authors used data from the Origin and Destination Survey of the Metro and digital tools in the research. They considered four categories of analysis: accidents, quality of sidewalks, purposes, and modes of travel.
The work shows that the sidewalks underwent corrective measures from the Emergency Sidewalk Plan, which is vital because most trips in the study area are carried out by children who use walking as their primary means of transportation. The article's results also show the need for transparency, data availability, and accountability, aiming at participation, social control, and data monitoring.
Glaucia Pereira, editor-in-chief of Josum, celebrated the publication of another volume of the Journal and reinforced the importance of blind peer review. “Articles approved by the Josum editorial team undergo a rigorous peer review process. In addition, we have open data guidelines that need to be adhered to for the article to be accepted and a meticulous editing process.”
Call for submissions
It is permanently open to submissions in the continuous flow of the Journal of Sustainable Urban Mobility. To be published, the text must be within the journal's scope. Once submitted, it undergoes a double-blind peer review and receives an opinion on whether to be accepted, rejected, or accepted with changes on a mandatory basis. Once approved, the author must pay the Article Processing Charges (APC) fee, which guarantees the continuity of the article review and editing process. Josum's management ensures a maximum period of 70 days for the article to be published, a record time if we consider the average evaluation and publication deadlines of Brazilian scientific journals.
